ABOUT

A scrawny mop-top headed boy, paints on a fake moustache and entertains his parents and three brothers with Groucho Marx sketches. Mom and the boys watch in hysterics. Months later on Christmas day, the same boy – known as Frankie – wears a Santa costume he made himself and “ho, ho ho’s” jollily as he passes out presents from under a perfectly tinseled tree.

Skip ahead 20 years and again it’s the holidays but Frankie is now Frank and is portraying Groucho Marx “on stage” at The American Place Theater. He ad-libs with his audience, cracking jokes and keeping them in stitches, in the same way he did as a kid, only this time, to critical acclaim!

That boy, and man are both me, Frank Moran. I started performing professionally in my 20’s and never stopped. My body of work in the film and TV world, spans from playing “The Dad” opposite Kathy Nijimy, in the Disney feature film “Step Up 3D” (directed by Jon M. Chu) to playing a more serious role opposite Vincent D’Onofrio in Law & Order: CI.

Whether the stage is a living room in Queens “where I got my start” or a big Broadway stage, or in front of a camera on a major movie set, that’s where I’ve spent most of my life! Entertainment is in my blood. Literally! My grandmother and her four sisters were a singing act (all big belters), my father a crooner (think Bing), my mother a concert pianist and my big brother, a musical theater actor.

Speaking of belting, you may also find me at times at a piano bar, power housing my rendition of “O Solo Mio.” And when I’m not performing – I’m instructing acting, singing and dance to our youth.

As a perpetual student of the art, I am currently studying with Wynn Handman (who taught Michael Douglas, Richard Gere and Robert De Niro) where I’m ceaselessly inspired by discovering more about myself and my craft. I continue to strive for excellence in my craft and career, having great passion for the art and for being a professional actor.

My only dream in life (other than great health and happiness) is to continue to express myself creatively and inspire others through my art, bringing joy and laughter wherever I go and celebrating life! I believe we can manifest our true desires and dreams and have all the success, abundance and first-rate career in show Business, if we so choose!

I leave you with a quote, “Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I – not events – have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead; tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I am going to be happy in it. – Groucho Marx
